Exploring the world of Sharks

What would you do if you were scuba diving and saw a shark in the distance? Many would swim in a panic to shore, others would stride back to shore for unwanted attention, and some would just analyze it from afar without much movement.

Many people have different feelings when it comes to talking about sharks in their habitats. Saying things like “oh there’s a shark!
They are so cruel to us, dolphins are better.” Although that is the scenario about how we see them, you might be surprised about who really is worse based on their actions. Let us dive into one’s mind and see how our human instincts react when we come face to face with sharks.

Perspectives of the mind
Opinions on marine life is a very confusing mix due to many people having different perspectives on marine life, unlike insects/arachnids. Sharks having the most controversy among the rest of the species. Many people say that sharks kill so many people each year when they only cause a lot of injury while very few result in death. “I think sharks are interesting as long as they are not
tearing me apart,” Sophia DeLeon said. She also says she likes how baby hammerhead sharks look due to their dory looks. There are people with positive opinions, but then there are also people who have their negative opinions on these creatures.  Michal Garcia has an interesting opinion on sharks as he says, “Especially their jaws I find the most likable. I like how they can crush the skull of their prey with their jaws.” Many find them very deadly as in general, but they are very docile in nature. Michal adds with, If they do not attack first then I am cool with them”

Comparing aspects
What aspects does one see to confirm what they like about an organism on this planet? Many aspects about sharks are disliked due to how deadly they can be in their own way. Keith Leimux has a positive saying, “I really like their faces. They’re just chillin,” With looks it can make us dislike and like certain aspects, but there are many scenarios where one feels very uncomfortable to
even talk about. Sophia is very uncomfortable talking about sharks in general. “The Basking shark makes me very uncomfortable just because of the huge mouth they have. Imagine that thing just swallowing you whole thinking that you are zooplankton.” Mason Dinh says he likes the aspect of how they don’t really know how to be violent and how important they are to the marine ecosystem. Michal Garcia is not fond about the hammerheads look. saying, “I don’t really like how nature designed the hammerhead like why you look like that.” He likes how the Zebra sharks look so derpy because of their mouths. Sophia meanwhile says their
beady eyes make her uncomfortable since you cannot see the white part of their eyes.

Misunderstood for actions
Throughout this article many people will have different perspectives on sharks when spotted. We are always saying that they are deadly when coconuts and vending machines have killed more people than a shark would. Same could go for Dolphins but not in the category of human threat. Sharks are just some fish vibing while we are killing millions annually.  Sharks are very important to keep a marine ecosystem at balance and they will go extinct if we continue hunting them.
