The Panther Varsity Boys Basketball have taken their motto for this year, “Finish the Fight,” to heart.

After just missing the playoffs last season the team has been focused on making playoffs from the beginning of the season.

With a 9-5 district record for third place the Panthers accomplished their goal.

“We have had a great year of focus and hard work,” Coach Boykin said.

The boys won their bi-district game 67-53 over Tomball Memorial on Tuesday to advance to Area.

They faceoff against Aldine Davis at 7 p.m. at Klein High School tonight.

Stoney Hadnot led the Panthers’ offensive attack against Tomball with 22 points while Jahelm Wiley added 17 points.

“Our defense was good, and we had great teamwork which got us through the ups and downs of the game,” Hadnot said.

Hadnot and Wiley have been key leaders all season. As a small forward Hadnot leads the team in scoring, averaging 18 points, and blocks. While Wiley leads on the boards averaging 11 rebounds. Wiley also is the team leader in assists and steals.

According to Hadnot season highlights included a great team win over Cy Ranch and the game against Cy Falls despite losing the team learned a lot from the game. A personal highlight for Hadnot was scoring 41 points in the Panthers’ win over Bridgeland.

Other key players this season include Rasaan Lago, Lonnie Leary Jr, Daveon Johnson, and Evan Coleman that are in the top three on stat leader boards.

Coleman’s favorite games of the season include beating Keller which is one the top teams in the state as well as the Panthers comeback win over Katy Jordan.

The boys hope to keep the good times going tonight.
