Amanda Alvarado Aldana, Staff Reporter

Cy Springs aquatic members have been making waves all year and all of CFISD is taking notice.

Junior Caden Feith is the latest success story. He is headed to the State Meet in diving after placing third at the Regional Meet. He advanced after becoming the district champion for the second year in a row.

Our Varsity swimmers also had stellar performances at Regionals setting multiple school records to reach finals and then again in the finals. Senior Nathan Salgado led the way by breaking four school records by himself in his 100 Butterfly and his 200 Freestyle. Salgado ended his high school career with a 5th place finish in 100 Fly in 50.96 and a 7th place in the 200 Free in 1:43.47.

The 400 freestyle relay team also set a new school record in the finals with a 10th place finish. While the 200 freestyle relay placed 14th at Regionals. Qualifying members of the relays were Roberto Olivera, Nathan Salgado, Dillan Salgado and Aaron Salas.

Dillan Salgado also qualified for finals and broke a school record at Regionals in the 500 Free with a 4:48:99 time for 12th place. Kaylor Hadley placed 11th in the 500 Free with a personal best. She was the only Varsity girl that made it to finals and she is only in 9th grade.

At the District meet every swimmer that swam advanced to Regionals in at least one event.

The boys team placed third overall and the girls placed sixth. The girls 400 free relay, 200 free relay as well as the boys medley relay also advanced to Regionals. The teams combined for 15 top ten finishes at District and Nathan Salgado won the district championship in the 100 Fly.

Coach Gober is super proud of his team and is also excited because in his five years of coaching at Cy Springs he has never gone to State and this year he gets to go with Caden.
