Senior Kezia Anderson believes you should, “Spend your free time the way you like.”
In her free time, she enjoys being around loved ones and staying caught up on school work. Making the most of free time became so important because throughout high school, Anderson faced the challenge of balancing academics with her commitment as a varsity cheerleader.
Being present at every school event, practice, and games while keeping her grades up taught her the importance of time management, a skill she knows will benefit her far beyond high school. Despite the pressure, Anderson thrived. She earned her letterman jacket after two years on the varsity cheer team, consistently earned A’s and B’s, and gave her all to both her studies and her sport.
Cheer has taught her that no matter what happens, you have to keep going and push yourself. It helped her stay ready for anything and gave her the confidence to approach others when needed. It also taught her how to stay motivated and how important it is to encourage yourself because the more you do, the more opportunities you’ll open up for yourself. She reflects that staying true to her studies while
pouring her heart into cheer was absolutely worth it.
One of her favorite memories came during a rivalry football game against Cy Ranch. She and her
cheer teammates stood hand-in-hand on the sidelines when the football team made a game-
winning catch. In that moment, she felt a strong sense of unity and joy, saying, “We are a family,
bonded by victory and pure joy.”
Looking to the future, Anderson dreams of traveling to Bali. The island’s peaceful vibe, beautiful
scenery, and stunning blue water speak to her adventurous spirit.
“Travel the world while you can and enjoy your life.”
After graduation, she plans to gain experience in both healthcare and tech before heading to Southern University A&M. There, she’ll major in Nursing, minor in Pre-Med, join Greek life, and cheer with the Code Blue Stomp and Shake team.
Her passion for healthcare runs deep. She was inspired to pursue a medical career because
of the challenges she has witnessed her family endure. She has seen loved ones struggle with
serious health conditions, and those experiences motivated her to want to help others get well.
She is determined to earn her Bachelor’s in Nursing and later return to school to become a
doctor. Her outlook on life is rooted in pushing through hard moments and showing love to
herself every step of the way.
If given the choice, Anderson would choose her close friend Ashanti as a person to live with. Their
bond has grown so strong that she now sees Ashanti as a sister.
“Friendships are the sweetest thing that you cherish.”
Her journey is a shining example of resilience, heart, and hard work.
Anderson believes, “Beauty isn’t about having a pretty face, it’s about having a pretty mind, a pretty heart, and a pretty soul.”
