After a season of endless work, commitment, and diligence, our boys soccer team has landed a playoff spot for the third year in a row. The entire school is right behind the team, ready to witness a deep playoff run and cheer them on to victory, a significant achievement as they prepare to face Tomball Memorial this Friday at 7:30pm at Cy Woods.
The boys started off the season with a 3-0 loss to Southlake Carroll, but that loss didn’t make them give up, the loss fueled them.
According to Captain Greg Morales “The most important quality is to have the hunger to win” and they won the next two games 4-0 at Bellaire, and 3-1 vs Allen. Shortly after, they then went up and down in the next few games, tying twice, losing twice, then they found a
little rhythm with five wins and a tie in six games. A sweet victory was defeating Cy Ranch on Valentines Day 1-0 after a 3-3 intense tie in their round one game. Other victories included wins over Langham, Cy Park, Cy Woods, Waller and Cy Lakes.
The Panthers head into the playoffs with the 3rd best record in the district, 9-6-5. The Panthers ended regular season play in a 1-1 draw with Cy Lakes while Tomball Memorial’s season ended with a 1-2 loss to Klein Oak. The Panthers enter the match as the underdog
with Tomball Memorial ranked 59th in the state but our Panthers are prepared to battle.
The key to the team’s success on and off the field is chemistry.
“Team chemistry is super important because you have to trust everyone to have your back and lift each other up in the game,” senior Johan Suarez said.
The Panthers trust shows every time they step on the pitch that the players have created an environment where they can thrive, knowing that they are supported by each other. This team’s journey marked by early setbacks and then a midseason surge, has instilled a resilient spirit within the squad.
The hunger to win Morales emphasized resonates throughout the team, fueling their determination for overcoming the challenges ahead of them. The next one being tonight.
Greg Morales, Samuel Pinheiro,Jeshua Haro, Diego Ramirez, Jonathan Ruiz, Adrian Macias,Kader Ouattara, Johan Suarez, Aaron Ortiz, Roberto Reyes, Jefferson Murcia, Eddison Turcios, Kevin Estrada, Ervin Benitez, Thulfiqar Hadab,Marcial Salazar, Justin Gonzales and Jonathan Garcia, under the guidance of their coaches Diego Pinto, Andy Huayamave and Christian Wilsher, are ready to face it head on.
