Thanksgiving is drawing near and so is the end of 2024. What’s a valuable/significant life lesson you learned from this past year that you’re most grateful for?
Jose Chapela -Computer Science Teacher: “I feel I’ve gained Dad strength and better understand where it comes from. It’s a matter of becoming strong for the kids who look up to you and willing to push through any fire/flames to ensure they’re happy. I’m grateful for it as well, it definitely aids me in pushing in the work grind.”
Nicolas Duran (junior): “That sometimes people will take advantage of your love and care and it’s okay to be selfish and care for your own feelings sometimes even if that means not relating with them anymore.”
Ethan Rocha (junior): “I learned that no matter what temperature it is outside, mosquitoes will always bite me, so I need mosquito repellent. I’m thankful for mosquito repellent for keeping the demons at bay.”
Carlos Rivera (senior): “Don’t be afraid to go out there and make new friends whenever you can. People will always come and go throughout your life, while it may be a disappointment to watch your old friends leave you behind to pursue their own lives, it opens a new door to meet new people and form new friendships and memories with them.”
Matthew Garcia (junior): “Tomorrow is never guaranteed, I like to make the most of each day that I can. I’m grateful to spend those days with people I care about.”
Mohammed Tayabali (junior): “Don’t spend time with someone who doesn’t make the time to spend with you.”
Allan Reyes (junior): “The most valuable and grateful lesson I learned in the recent years of my life is being able to be happy with all that I have, despite the overwhelming problems of life.”
Kevin Scott (junior): “I have learned that I am worthy of a partner who loves me as much as I love them, and should never settle for less.”
Simran Ramchandani (sophomore): “I’m most grateful for my best friend, Y.”
Samuel Ikechukwu (junior): “It’s a waste of time to try and please everyone. Don’t fake a smile to the point where you become fake. Be honest even if it becomes painful for everyone. Stay true to yourself. Don’t bother yourself with pleasing someone who can’t be pleased with what you can offer so long as you’re someone of worth who does good for others. If there is someone or something you care of so much, don’t waste your time with them or it; every last minute is precious. Chase your dreams.”
Alanna Hickey (junior): “I have learned that this year no matter what happens to you, you can always find joy in the dark times and move forward with it. It may be hard now but it won’t always be that way.”
Mrs. Childress (Assistant Principal): “The understanding, the wisdom to know, to protect my time, my energy, and my creativity. Do not allow others, events, and negative sources to take up, devour, and eat my time. Don’t give that, the negativity, the space in the mind. And I’ve learned that in the beginning of 2024, I’m thankful for that, learning to be very protective of my focus.”
Alucio Salas (junior): “I learned to be more patient.”
