As finals approach and the year comes to an end, it’s a good time to reflect on the school year
up to now. For many it was filled with unique experiences, for others it was stressful. Students at
Cy Springs shared their reflections and memories that they created this year
A highlight of many students’ school year was the extracurriculars that allows them to showcase
their skills and hard work.
“It’s something special because it was the most stressful thing ever– but it’s very rewarding and
you get to make new memories.” said Louise Campo (9), sharing her passion for joining the
color guard and being able to make memories during football season.
Competitions during the fall semester are numerous and there are more available every year.
For instance the Comp Sci UIL team here at Cy Springs recently competed and won 1st
place in the novice division despite not being recognized by the district as an official team.
“I think we deserve to be recognized because we got first place and I think that is pretty amazing
for our first year competing, we even beat other good novice teams like Seven Lakes,”
Hershie Soriano (10) said.
However the semester has not been exciting to all. The difficulties and stress of assignments
piling up can take a toll on students. Freshmen predominantly face struggles as they get used to
the new environment of high school.
Freshman Mia Jaime said “It’s been pretty stressful with all the work teachers are giving us, it is
a little more than I am used to.”
¨Somehow I am passing my main classes but failing my side classes and I can not with all these
dramas.¨ said Y Le (9) when asked to comment on her academics so far.
The reflections of these students are a tiny fraction of the stories and memories made during the
fall semester. Some include extracurricular ambitions and others are just trying to get by.
The end of the semester is a nice reminder to everyone what we have accomplished.
